Standard ballscrew kits use 5/8" Thomson ballscrews with a .200 pitch. Here is a link to the Thomson catalog page with detailed information on the ballscrews.

 

 
 

Kits now include bearing locknuts on all axis. Kit #4 now comes with new thrust bearings on X/Y axis. Kits currently take around 2 weeks to ship.

  

Small-Mill CNC kit #1 - Three axis conversion

 

This Kit includes all the hardware for a 3 axis conversion. Two NEMA23 motor mounts for the table, and a NEMA34 mount for the Z axis, lovejoy spider motor couplings, timing belt and pulleys, and metric cap screws & bolts. You do not need to modify your mill to install this kit. This kit can also be upgraded to ballscrews on the X,Y & Zaxis.

Small-Mill CNC kit #2 - no 'Z' axis
  

This kits includes, two NEMA23 motor mounts for the table, lovejoy spider motor couplings, and metric cap screws. You do not need to modify your mill in any way to install this kit. Buy this kit if you want to make your own custom Z axis motor mount.

This kits includes, one NEMA34 motor mount for the Z-axis, timing belt and pulleys, and metric cap screws & bolts. You do not have to modify your mill to install this kit. Buy this kit if you want to make your own X-Y motor mounts.

This includes 3 BALLSCREWS for the X-Y-Z axis and hardware needed to mount the ballscrew nuts. You can use this kit only if you previously purchased kit #1 and now want to upgrade to ballscrews.

This Kit includes all the hardware for a 3 axis conversion. Nema23 motor mount for Z-axis is available. You do not need to modify your mill to install this kit. DELUXE BALLSCREWS HAVE A 5MM PITCH.

11-5-07: DELUXE BALLSCREWS IN STOCK: We now have deluxe ballscrews in stock from the new vendor. Unfortunately, each ballnut from the new vendor runs about $16 more than before, so there was a slight increase the kit pricing. But the new vendor has promised to keep ballnuts and screws in stock for us at all times. We will be updating the photos to show the locknut that now comes on the Z axis, we no longer use the locking collar. The timing belt and pulleys are also not shown, but are included.

 
Most people no not have to modify the mill to install the ballscrew kit. You WILL need to cut about 1" off the stock X & Y axis screws, if you plan to use the stock leadscrews. These kits will fit both the standard X3 and the Super X3 sold byGrizzly, Harborfreight and several other retailers. If you have a doubt whether your mill will fit one of our kits, just email us for confirmation.

Gass Spring Kit for the X3

This kit includes, one Gas Spring, all nessesary mounting hardware, and a quality "MADE IN USA" Drill and Tap.To install the gas spring kit, you simply need to drill and tap two holes with the provided drill, and tap. This kit will also work with non-CNC'd mills, so for those who want to keep their mill manual, this will help counter weigh the spindle and make rasing/lowering the spindle head easier.

Spare ballnuts
 $33 Spare / Replacement ballnut. Order as many as you need.
Double Ballnuts - For use with kits #4 & 5 only
 $175 Double Ballnuts on all axis. Double Ballnuts on all three axis, plus any additional mounting hardware needed. Please note: This option will reduce Y&Z axis travel by 1", and you will need to drill/tap a couple holes for the Z-axis ballnut mount.
Double Nuts option 2 - For use with kits #4 & 5 only

$155 Double Ballnuts on X-Z axis & Pre-Loaded Ballnut on Y axis. Double Ballnuts on the X and Z axis, and a pre-loaded ballnut for the Y axis, plus any additional mounting hardware needed. Please note: This option will reduce Z axis travel by less than 1", and you will need to drill/tap a couple holes for the Z-axis ballnut mount. With this option, you will not loose any Y axis travel.

Pre-Loaded Ballnuts - For use with kits #4 & 5 only
 $33 One Pre-Loaded Ballnut We pre-load the nut with the largest oversize balls that will fit and still allow smooth movement, to lower the backlash between the nut and the screw. Each ballnut is matched to its screw. You can add up to three Pre-Loaded ballnuts to your cart.
Heli-Cal Coupling - ZERO backlash
 $24 Heli-Cal zero backlash coupling. These are premium aluminum couplings, designed for servoes. ZERO BACKLASH. These will fit a 1/4" stepper/servo motor shaft. You only need two of these for the X3 mill, the Z axis does not require a coupling. If you are NOT purchasing these with a kit please specify your screw shaft diameter.
